6 MINUTE STRIKE RULE
IF DOGS THAT HAVE BEEN DECLARED STRUCK STOP BARKING A SIX MINUTE TIME WILL BE PLACED ON THOSE HOUNDS. IT ONLY TAKES ONE OF THE DOGS DECLARED STRUCK TO BREAK THE SIX MINUTES. IF CASTS HAS WALKED OUT OF HEARING OF THE TRAILING DOG(S) TO SCORE A TREE, THE CAST MUST WALK BACK TO THE LAST PLACE THEY HEARD THE TRAILING DOG BEFORE THE 6 MINUTE RULE CAN BE APPLIED.

30 SECOND RULE
WHEN DOGS HAVE BEEN CAST, THE JUDGE WILL START A 30 SECONDS. ALL DOGS ARE ALLOWED TO BARK DURING THE 30 SECONDS. AFTER THE 30 SECONDS, DOGS MUST BE DECLARED STRUCK ON OR BEFORE THE HOUNDS 3RD BARK. THE JUDGE MUST ASK FOR A CALL ON THE 3RD BARK. IF NOT STRUCK IN ON 3RD BARK, DOG WILL TAKE THAT POSITION STRIKE MINUS AND MUST THEN BE STRUCK ON NEXT BARK. IF DOG IS DECLARED STRUCK DURING THE 30 SECONDS, THE JUDGE CAN THEN MAKE A DECISION IF THE DOG IS BABBLING. IF JUDGE MAKES DECISION THE DOG IS BABBLING, OR IF A HANDLER BELIEVES THE DOG IS BABBLING, IT WILL BE CALLED TO A VOTE. IT MUST BE A 3 TO 1 VOTE TO MINUS FOR BABBLING (2 TO 1 IN 3 DOG CAST) IF 2 TO 2 VOTE, THE DOG WILL NOT BE MINUSED.

CHKC TREE RULE
AT CHKC THERE IS ONE SET OF TREE POINTS 1ST 100, 2ND 75, 3RD 50, 4TH 25. WHEN A DOG IS DECLARED TREED, 3 MINUTES WILL IMMEDIATELY BE APPLIED. WHEN THREE MINUTES HAVE ELAPSED, THE TREE IS CLOSED. AFTER 30 SECONDS OF THE 3 MINUTES HAVE PASSED, 2ND TREE IS DEAD. AFTER 1 MINUTE OF THE 3 MINUTES HAVE PASSED, 3RD TREE IS DEAD.
NON TREEING RULE
IF A DOG TREED STOPS BARKING, 2 MINUTES WILL BE IMMEDIATELY APPLIED. IF ANY DOG DECLARED TREED ON THAT TREE BARKS THE 2 MINUTE RULE WILL BE TAKEN OFF. IF DOGS DECLARED TREED DO NOT BARK WITHIN 2 MINUTES WILL BE MINUSED AND THAT’ TREES POINTS WILL BE RE-OPENED. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN THE 2 MINUTES BE TAKEN OFF A TREE BECAUSE ANOTHER DOG IS TRAILING NEARBY OR HAS BECOME TREED ON ANOTHER TREE.

ARRIVING AT A TREE
WHEN ARRIVING AT A TREE THE JUDGE IS TO TELL THE HANDLERS TO HANDLE THEIR DOGS. ANY HANDLER DELIBERATELY NOT MAKING AN ATTEMPT TO HANDLE THEIR DOG WILL BE SCRATCHED. IF DOG IS FOUND NOT ON TREE (SUCH AS DOG NOT SHOWING TREED) WILL BE MINUSED THEIR TREE POINTS. THE CAST MUST MAKE EVERY EFFORT POSSIBLE TO SCORE A TREE. (EXAMPLE) IF A DOG IS ACROSS WATER THE CAST CAN AGREE TO CROSS IF SAFE. THE CAST NEEDS TO FIND A SPOT THAT ALL MEMBERS CAN SAFELY CROSS. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY A CAST SCORE A TREE BEFORE THE DOG IS HANDLED.
SHOWING TREED
A DOG SHOWING TREED IS BARKING UP A TREE EITHER BY SITTING AND LOOKING UP TREE, STANDING AND LOOKING UP TREE, OR DOGS FEET UP ON TREE. ALSO, IF IN A HOLE, DOG MUST BE SHOWING YOU WHAT HOLE IT IS BARKING IN.

STATIONARY RULE
ANY DOG/DOGS TREEING AND HANDLERS NOT CALLING THEM TREED 3 MINUTES WILL BE APPLIED. IF DOG CONTINUES BARKING TREED, THE 3 MINUTES EXPIRES, AND THE DOG/DOGS ARE NOT DECLARED TREED THEY WILL BE SCRATCHED. IF DOG LEAVES TRAILING, THE 3 MINUTES WILL BE TAKEN OFF. THE STATIONARY RULE MAY BE APPLIED ANYTIME THE JUDGE FEELS THE CAST IS IN REASONABLE HEARING DISTANCE. THE STATIONARY CANNOT BE APPLIED IF A DOG HAS BEEN DECLARED TREED. ALSO, (SCENARIO) IF STATIONARY IS STARTED ON 2 DOGS, ONE SHUTS UP, THE OTHER KEEPS BARKING, THE DOG THAT SHUT UP WILL HAVE THE 2 MINUTES APPLIED ON HIM WHILE THE STATIONARY CONTINUES ON THE OTHER DOG BARKING.

HANDLER TREEING ON CLOSED TREE
ANY HANDLER TREEING ON A DEAD TREE WILL RECIEVE A 100 TREE. THIS CALL WILL BE HANDLED AS IF THE DOG IS SPLIT TREED. IF THIS DOG STOPS BARKING WHILE PROCEEDING TO THE TREE, THE TWO MINUTES WILL BE APPLIED ON THE DOG REGARDLESS IF THE DOGS DECLARED TREED ON THE OTHER TREE ARE BARKING. WHEN CAST ARRIVES AT THE TREE AND THE HANDLERS DOG IS THERE, AND HANDLED THERE WITH OTHER DOGS, ITS TREE POINTS WILL BE DELETED.

STRIKING AFTER DOG DECLARED TREED
A DOG THAT IS NOT STRUCK IN BEFORE A DOG IS DECLARED TREED CAN NOT RECEIVE STRIKE POINTS. UNLESS IT GOES ON AND TREES ITS OWN TREE OR THE DOG DECLARED TREED LEAVES AND IS MINUSED.

SHINE TIME
WHEN ALL DOGS AT THE TREE ARE HANDLED THE JUDGE WILL ASK THE HANDLER WITH THE MOST TO GAIN IF THEY WANT TO SHINE BY THEMSELVES FOR 2 MINUTES. A HANDLER MAY SQUALL AS SOON AS THE SHINE TIME STARTS. IF CASTS HAS WALKED OUT OF HEARING OF THE TRAILING DOG(S) TO SCORE A TREE, THE CAST MUST WALK BACK TO THE LAST PLACE THEY HEARD THE TRAILING DOG BEFORE THE 6 MINUTE RULE CAN BE APPLIED. IF A DOG IS TREED BUT NOT BARKING THEN THE 2 MUST BE APPLIED, HOWEVER THE DOGS MAY BE RE-CASTED IF A DOG IS BARKING ON THE TRAIL. ANY HANDLER CUTTING THEIR DOG BEFORE THE JUDGE SAYS SO WILL BE SCRATCHED FOR TRYING TO GAIN UNDESERVED POINTS. ALSO, IF UNDER 6 MINUTES LEFT, THE DOG(S) MUST BE CUT BECAUSE THE SIX MINUTE RULE CANNOT BE APPLIED.

TIE BREAKING
1ST, MOST PLUS TREE POINTS
2ND, MOST PLUS STRIKE POINTS
3RD, MOST CIRCLE TREE POINTS
4TH, MOST CIRCLE STRIKE POINTS
5TH, LEAST AMOUNT OF MINUS

A DOG WITH A CIRCLE TREE PLACES OVER A DOG WITH JUST MINUS EVEN IF THEY HAVE LESS MINUS.

SUDDEN DEATH
ANY CASTS THAT ARE TIED IN EVERY WAY WILL HUNT UNTIL A DOG TREES A COON, MAKES A CIRCLE TREE, OR A DOG/DOGS ARE MINUSED AND A WINNER CAN BE DETERMINED. SUDDEN DEATH SHOULD START AS SOON AS HUNT TIME EXPIRES. ONLY IF DOGS/HANDLERS ARE IN DANGER SHOULD YOU FINISH YOUR SUDDEN DEATH IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION. YOU ALSO HAVE THE OPTION TO FLIP A COIN BUT EVERYONE MUST AGREE

COMMON SENSE
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE IN CHKC. OUR COON HUNTS ARE MADE TO TRY AND LET THE BEST COON DOG OF THAT PARTICULAR NIGHT WIN. NOT ALL SITUATIONS CAN BE EXPLAINED AND RULED ON IN THIS BOOK. SOMETIMES, IT IS BEST FOR US TO USE OUR BEST JUDGEMENT TO DETERMINE A SOLUTION TO A SITUATION.
